Dental Implants

Missing a tooth? A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in your jawbone that acts as an artificial root. A natural-looking crown is fixed on top, and it looks, feels, and works just like a real tooth. Unlike dentures that can slip and slide, implants are fixed permanently. Think of it like planting a fence post deep in the ground — it's strong, stable, and lasts for years.

Single Implants, Implant Bridges, and Full-Arch Restoration

Dental implant treatment is not one-size-fits-all — it scales from a single missing tooth to replacing an entire arch. A single implant replaces one tooth with a crown. An implant-supported bridge uses two implants to support three or four adjacent missing teeth without individual implants for each. All-on-4 and All-on-6 protocols place four or six implants across the full arch to support a complete fixed set of teeth — a dramatic life-improvement for patients who have lost most or all of their natural teeth and have struggled with dentures. Dr. Anshalika will map the most appropriate solution based on the number of missing teeth, bone availability, and your goals.

What If I Don't Have Enough Bone?

After tooth loss, the jawbone in that area gradually resorbs (shrinks) because there is no longer a root stimulating it — a process that begins within the first year and continues over time. Patients who have been missing teeth for many years often have insufficient bone volume for standard implant placement. In these cases, bone grafting rebuilds the site: bone material (from the patient's own jaw, a donor source, or a synthetic substitute) is placed and allowed to integrate over 3–6 months before implant placement proceeds. Ridge augmentation, sinus lift procedures (for upper jaw), and block bone grafts are all tools within Dr. Anshalika's repertoire for cases where the bone needs rebuilding.

The Medistar Approach to Implant Care

At Medistar, every implant case begins with a thorough clinical and radiographic assessment — including CBCT cone beam imaging for precise three-dimensional planning when required. We use high-quality titanium implants from trusted manufacturers with strong long-term research backing. Post-placement care instructions are explained clearly and a personalised follow-up schedule is provided. We also screen for and manage any existing gum disease before implant placement, since healthy gum tissue is critical to long-term implant success. Patients receive ongoing guidance on maintaining their implants to ensure they last for decades.
